Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel. Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space. In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region. US President Donald Trump has described ongoing "major combat operations" and called for Iranian government forces to lay down their arms. Just about 15 to 20 minutes ago, we heard new explosions here in Thran. uh we couldn't locate the exact targets of those loc of those explosions but that's clearly an indication of the continuation of this operation as has been promised by uh by the the American president. Iranians also are bracing for this and as you just mentioned the supreme uh national council security council has announced that this is going to be an ongoing operation and that people have to take shelter in safe areas. They have to avoid going to unsafe places and that there are also reassurances on the other hand that the banks will continue to function but some of the schools and universities will be closing for the moment until further notice and it has advised people not to rush to uh stockpile on on commodities because there is enough of those commodities that the government has been taking the necessary uh uh precaution measures for this so that there will be no crisis in food or any other facility. ities or amenities. H so the government basically is saying that things are under control that it is gearing up its defenses that the the air defense systems are in full action mode inside Thran and other locations. I can't simply keep track of the number of cities that are being attacked. It it is getting to be a very long uh list now. The latest was Romeo in the northwest. Also, you have Bender Abbas all across the country. You have cities also that have been targeted. It seems to me that this is no longer just a a a campaign that is focused on nuclear sites in Iran. This is a very wide range of targets including government facilities, defense ministry facilities and also the Iranian army and the Iranian national guans said clearly this is a campaign that is going to be continuous until probably regime change can be affected in the country. What about the Iranian people? Um Muhammad that we heard there from the National Security Council that provisions have been made. there is enough you know food and so on but Iranians would have also made preparations ahead of this. Well look I have been following the situation here in Thran only since I arrived just one day ago and today we have really a we are really short on updates because of this blackout there is uh there is a report from an international agency that is uh monitoring internet internet in Thran. it is saying that 96% of the national network has been blocked. So we're not really able to follow uh on social media and listen or reading what people are saying. But we know from the previous uh situations and also we know from the recent days and weeks that the Iranians are divided a little bit divided about this. Some of them have been protesting against the new the government in in charge and they are probably you know uh willing to see some kind of change but that contradicts the the the need even among these people for safety, personal safety, safety for their families and so on. And now that this campaign is taking place all across Iran, nobody is safe in this war. And you have also the people the millions of people who are supporting the regime and they have been demonstrating in the streets. We have seen that on occasion they are also against this war. Everybody is preparing for the worst. Everybody wants to say stay safe but everybody also is dreaming of some kind of outcome that suits uh what they they like to see happening in the country.
